Maui Babymoon Travel Guide: Our Stay at the Andaz in Wailea

Once Nick and I found out we were expecting, we knew we wanted to take a break from reality and relax somewhere magical before the baby arrived. I have traveled to Maui many times before and I couldn’t think of a better place to find myself while pregnant. I already knew the best places to eat and spend our time, all we had to do was get there. Here is a full itinerary from our baby-moon, along with tips and tricks on what to pack for traveling while pregnant!

For the past 20 years, Maui has been my family’s second home. After getting to know Wailea like a local, I wanted to share all of my favorite bites and activities for your next visit! Below are my family’s go-to recommendations for a vacation to the tranquil island of Maui, Hawaii.

  • Walk on the beach

  • Maui Brewing Company – Enjoy live music & picnic yard games at their restaurant
  • Shopping at the Shops at Wailea, Whalers Village, or Old Lahaina
  • Watch professional Surfers – at Hoʻokipa Beach near Lower Pāʻia during the winter big wave season
  • Relax with a Prenatal Massage – LOVED mine at the Andaz Wailea Spa
  • Chef Tasting with Mocktail Pairings – We loved our’s at Ka’ana Kitchen. If you time it right, you can enjoy the magical Maui sunset. Ka’ana Kitchen has an open-air concept and we enjoyed a six-course customized menu with out mocktail pairings. The culinary team was fabulous and explained every course we enjoyed!

 

Where to Stay? – Andaz Maui in Wailea 

The Andaz Maui is the perfect location for a Hawaiian escape located on Mokapu Beach within walking distance to the Shops at Wailea. Unwind by starting each morning with a dip in one of their 5 beachfront infinity pools with a cocktail in hand. I loved sipping on their virgin pina coladas that are made with fresh pineapple – so yummy! Known for being one of the most modern luxury hotels in Wailea with the best spa, Andaz Maui is the perfect sunny beach getaway destination!

For a little local adventure, their concierge can book a day of snorkeling miles of gorgeous reefs or a day trip to ascend the rugged trails of the volcano at Haleakala National Park. In the heart of Wailea – this property’s location has it all, as guests can experience an authentic beachfront Polynesian luau right at the resort after hitting the links at the Emerald Golf Course, just a five-minute drive away too. It honestly is a dream!

I have been going to Maui since I was a little girl. It was a place for my family to escape to, that made my Filipina mom feel like she was back home in her motherland. We would spend our time walking Wailea and ordering a big stack of Macadamia nut pancakes and pork fried rice for breakfast at the Kihei Caffe. Maui and the memories I’ve made there hold a sentimental place in my heart. And now 20 years later, Nick and I both dreamed of relaxing with virgin Pina Coladas by the pool as we celebrate the expected arrival of our first baby, with a baby-moon to the tranquil island of Maui.
