GALENTINE’S DAY ENTERTAINING IDEAS

When decorating a table, the details are what takes it to the next level. I don’t know what it is about women, but they always seem to notice those extra rose petals strewn on the table or a decorative rim of a cocktail. For those of you inviting a few gal pals over this February, here are 4 simple tips that will elevate your Galentine’s table from just a place to eat to a beautiful setting that adds to the ambiance.

4 Tips for Your Galentine’s Day Table

Dress up your cocktails

Instead of just pouring rose into a wine glass, take it up notch by decorating the glass a bit. Slice a strawberry and hand it on the rim, or wet and dip the rim in Pop Rocks for some added color (and fun for your mouth when you take a sip). Another idea is to pick up some paper straws decorated with hearts from your corner store.

Set the Mood with Lots of Candles

Who says you need a boyfriend to have a candlelit dinner?? Go crazy and light as many candles as possible in the center of your table (being careful not to make it a fire hazard, of course 😬). Create this romantic ambiance, even if it is just for your friends and not a romantic partner. Plus, you can use some beautiful candlesticks to elevate your table even more.

Keep Things Sweet

Of course you need to have a heart shaped box of chocolates or some cupcakes to spoil yourself and your ladies! It is Valentine’s Day, after all. In addition to the typical sweets, I personally love when there is a naturally sweet option as well, like a parfait or fresh berries with cool whip. It’s always nice to have options that aren’t so rich and won’t make you feel guilty the next day.

Avoid a Tacky Table

Pink and red are obvious colors for Galentine’s Day. But there’s a way incorporate this color palette without making your table look like it was decorated by Cupid himself. Make use of the multiple shades of each color and go for a beautiful monochromatic look. For my table, I my place settings pop by using a mauve napkin underneath light pink bowl against a neutral tablecloth. More hints of pink and red flow throughout the tablescape through the red candles, pink roses, and bright berries.

Other tips for an elegant table are to steer clear of paper or plastic plates/cutlery and use real glasses. I know it makes clean up a little more of a pain, but it’s so worth it. Always add some form of natural elements, like flowers, plants, or fresh fruit to give the table some life.
