This is something that feels very personal and close to my heart, because it’s something that I’ve dreamed of and prayed about all of my life, so I’m so excited to share with you guys that we are pregnant with our first baby! We do not know the gender yet, but I get a little tear in my eye thinking about six or seven months from now what’s going to happen to our lives because it’s completely gonna change! But I’m really excited to share this next chapter with you because you guys have been there from the beginning since I was single in New York living in a little studio apartment on the Upper East Side right after The Bachelor, to meeting my current husband five years ago. Then getting married last year and now starting a family! So I just wanted to start by saying thank you guys for being here! I love you so much and consider you a part of my family. I can’t wait to share what’s next!
HOW I FOUND OUT I WAS PREGNANT:
On July 21st, I flew to Boston to visit my best friend Margo and celebrate the fact that she was about to have twins in a few weeks. Margo is the life of the party and whenever we’re together we always indulge ourselves like we were back in our college days from taking shots to drinking margaritas! So before I spent the entire weekend drinking margaritas for the both of us, after she picked me up from the airport, I asked her if she’d let me take a pregnancy test just in case, because I wasn’t feeling any different at this point, but just to be safe! So we stopped by CVS and picked up something real quick. Once we got to her house, she showed me her nursery and gave me a little tour and I was like let’s get this over with and pee on the stick real quick. So I did and then went back and told her, Don’t worry, it’s probably nothing. I’d been trying for quite a few months, pretty much more than a year and I pee on a stick every month and it’s always nothing.
But this time I leave the nursery and go back to the bathroom to check what the results are, and I look down at this little stick and in blue letters it says PREGNANT! I fall to my knees sobbing because it’s the word I’ve been looking for for the longest time! It’s the news I was hoping for and the feeling that I never thought I would get! So I’m truly grateful that I found out with my best friend! She ran to the bathroom and I screamed her name and said “It’s happening!” I still can’t believe I got to share that moment with her. So, that’s how I found out in Boston with my best friend and I was in complete shock after. Then I had to spend the next three days wondering how I’m gonna tell Nick, because he wasn’t with me and I knew he wanted to be there for that moment.
HOW I TOLD NICK
A week later, on August 3rd, it happened to be Nick’s 30th birthday and I decided that I was going to tell him on his birthday! This is gonna be the best birthday present he’s even gotten in his entire life! I ordered a present and I was just so excited, but that morning I couldn’t hold it in anymore with the presents I hadn’t wrapped yet, so I took the pregnancy stick and put Ash, or dog, in a little knit sweater! And I have never dressed Ash up before, but since Nick was watching TV on the couch I stuck the pregnancy test at the bottom of Ash’s sweater and knew Nick would call him over soon! So as Nick is watching TV on the couch, he calls Ash and he comes over in his sweater. I said “What do you think of his outfit?” Nick goes to pet him and Ash jumps on the couch and the pregnancy test falls on the floor and Nick looks like he saw a ghost! His jaw dropped and he instantly shouted “NO WAY!” He crawls on the ground to pick up the stick and says it again! He was so excited, and we were both laughing because it’s something we both always knew we wanted!
