Austin’s Top 10 Fall Activities Guide: Pumpkin Patch List + More!

Who’s ready to go to the pumpkin patch? Fall has officially arrived and there are so many fun and festive experiences to be had! Today I’m going to share Austin’s Top 10 Fall Activities!

While the weather is still hot here in Austin now, I’m looking forward to the transition of the season in October. Can’t wait for the crisp air and cooler temps! Last year I transitioned to Texas and was just learning my way around. This year, I am really looking forward to exploring all of what Austin has to offer for the Fall season! There is always something to do in Austin and I’ve collected some fun and festive activities to fully get into the Fall season!

1. Barton Hills Pumpkin Patch | 20 min East of Austin 

Activity: Pumpkin Picking 

Named the best pumpkin patch in Central Texas, Barton Hills Pumpkin patch features pumpkin picking, a corn maze and over 30 fall themed activities for the whole family. From capturing fall photos with the family under the cottonwood trees to picking your very own pumpkins from the gorgeous pumpkin patch, Barton Hills offers over 30 activities including a fall corn maze! They open now until November 6th and tickets are $20 for access to all activities!

2. Sweetberry Farm | 1 hour West of Austin

Activity: Three Corn Mazes + Pumpkin Patch

Sweetberry Farm is nestled in Marble Falls.  Not only do they have pumpkins, but Sweetberry Farm has 3 different corn mazes including the giant Texas Maze spanning over 4.5 acres and an easier Kids Maze geared toward little ones which takes 10-15 minutes to get through. Another fun and unique experience they offer is flower-picking so you can pick your own bouquet to bring the fall vibes into your home! On the weekends, the kids can enjoy pony rides and The Pumpkin Grill serves up classics like hot dogs and grilled corn! They’re open now until November 6th daily, except Wednesdays and entrance is FREE!

3. Sweet Eats Fruit Farm | 45 min North of Austin

Activity: Pumpkin Patch

Sweet Eats Fruit Farm is in Georgetown, about 45 minutes North of Austin. From a 4.5-acre safari themed corn maze to a pumpkin patch spread over 2 acres, they have a little something for everyone! The pumpkin patch has 40 varieties of pumpkins! They have food trucks, live music and over 30 different activities like pony rides, a petting zoo, jump pads, a treasure mountain, apple slingshots, pig races, and so much more! And to top it off, on Friday and Saturday nights in October, they have Fireworks! They’re open 7 days a week until November 20th and the pumpkin patch is free or it’s $16 for all activities!

4. Tarrytown United Methodist | West Austin

Activity: Pumpkin Patch

Pick pumpkins close to the city in this adorable church yard! They set up a pumpkin patch and have some cute props to take fun fall photos surrounded by the gorgeous church architecture. They’re open now through October 31st!

5. Oktoberfest | Downtown Austin

Activity: German Beer + Food Festival

Oktoberfest is coming to town October 8th at The German Free School from 11AM to 7PM! According to the Austin Chronicle, “the German-Texan Heritage Society certainly brings the most authentic Oktoberfest game in town.” This is a family-friendly event with lots of activities for the kids and of course German Food and Drinks. Grab an Oktoberfest beer or soft pretzel and enjoy the live music at this fun, festive event! Tickets are $15!

6. Halloween Month at The Blue Starlite Drive-In | Downtown Austin

Activity: Drive-In Movie Theater

What’s more nostalgic than a drive-in movie theater? The Blue Starlite Drive-In in Downtown Austin is an intimate drive-in experience on a rooftop in Downtown Austin. They’re open Wednesday through Sunday and are showing a variety of Halloween classics and new releases throughout October. They have a concession stand on site serving up snacks like popcorn, candy and soda or you can bring your own food. They even offer a few local restaurants to order from and they will deliver to your car! Dogs are welcome! They’ve also added new attractions like dinner theater and even movies on the lake at Lake Austin, details are on their website!

7. Pumpkin Nights Austin at Pioneer Farms | 20 min North of Austin

Activity: Pumpkin Themed Lands + Live Entertainment

Experience adventure and entertainment at Pumpkin Nights Austin! Explore 6 themed lands and be entertained by live fire dancers then watch live pumpkin carvings by professional artists. The kids can dig for buried treasure in the Pirate Cove or play games in the Monster Mash area. Indulge in yummy food and treats from local vendors and grab a cup of hot cocoa or an adult beverage. Open now until October 30th from 6-11 PM at Pioneer Farms!

8. Boo at the Zoo | 25 min West of Austin

Activity: Zoo Fundraiser 

Halloween-Themed family-friendly zoo event and fundraiser with a haunted house, train ride and musical puppet show. You are allowed to bring outside food and drink to enjoy in the pavilion or visit the on-site concession stand. Tickets are $19.95 each and includes Boo at the Zoo event entry for one-person, unlimited visits through the Haunted House (as the line allows), and one seat for a RESERVED TRAIN RIDE. Children under 2 are free and must ride the train in an adult’s lap. They are open Fridays and Saturdays from October 14th to 29th from 6:30-9PM!

9. Dripping Springs Pumpkin Festival | 40 min SW of Austin

Activity: Pumpkin Patch

Open now until October 31st, The Dripping Springs Pumpkin Festival is held at the Dr. Pound Historical Farmstead, a Texas State Historical Landmark, which is over 5 acres of gorgeous, shaded oak trees! With live music, a courtyard marketplace and plenty of photo-ops, there is something for the whole family! They have over 50 fall activities, games and attractions like kids goat yoga and a pumpkin patch! They’re open from 10AM-7PM, except for Tuesday, and entry is FREE on Mondays (except Holidays), $5 on weekdays and $10 on weekends!

10. Robinson Family Farm | 1 hour North of Austin

Activity: Pumpkin Patch

The Robinson Family Farm is open Now for their Fall Festival until October 30th! They have over 20 activities like a pumpkin patch, a beer and wine garden, farm animals, a hayride and plenty of fall photo ops! Tickets are $20 at the gate or $16 online and they’re open from 10AM-6PM weekends only!
