Slow Down with Rituals Cosmetics – A Visit to Amsterdam

LET’S GO TO AMSTERDAM

When Rituals first invited me to visit their home in Amsterdam and see where all of their calming bath gels and body balms were inspired, I was grateful and excited, but couldn’t help but think, “me?”

Outside my window the streets of New York were honking for attention, so I closed the curtains. I had recently found out my feelings for someone were one sided and the independent woman inside of me was cheering for an Eat Pray Love adventure. Along with 32 bloggers from around the world, my girlfriend Brittany and I boarded a flight to discover the meaning of “self love” and how we can bring it home in our little daily rituals.

If you didn’t instagram it, did it even happen?

– that little voice in every millennial’s head πŸ˜‚

CREATE YOUR OWN SLOW DOWN SESSION

After joining several workshops and speaking with professionals from yoga instructors, perfumers, chefs, and even executives at Youtube, there was one thing they all had in common to share, “consistency can change your life.” Whether it’s adding morning walk, taking deeb breaths when feeling overwhelmed, lighting a candle to focus, or spending an extra minute in the shower for an aromatic warming body scrub, that additional self care adds up to a better way of living.

p.s. My favorite collection that I still use to slow down at home is the Ritual of Hammam that originated from ancient bath houses. I included a little video below if you want to see how it works! πŸ‘‡ If I could pick one product for you to try, I’d say use Ritual of Hammam Sea Salt Hot Scrub in the shower – you will take calm deep breaths as it tingles on your skin. I absolutely love it.

THE TRENDY PLACE TO EAT

The Avocado Show

Come to The Avocado Show restaurant for a vibrant presentation of avocado courses – from drinks, dining, to dessert! The trendy pink velvet decor complimented the impeccable service, as we toasted to good food & great company.

I must say the avocado on a waffle for dessert was an interesting combination, but the warm crispy dough reminded me of how on point the Dutch are with their waffles. We enjoyed a memorable meal – I would just recommend coming early so you avocado’nt have a line. (I owe you a drink after that stretch of a joke πŸ™ˆ)

Aside from the canals of Amsterdam, this might be the number one spot to instagram.

Couldn’t thank Rituals enough for sharing their home of Amsterdam with me. Met some amazing friends that gave the best bear hugs like this one above. This was a trip of self love. And I’m so excited that what I learned I can share with you and hopefully you can take it home too.

Self love is putting a little extra care into enjoying all the little parts that add up to your day. You become more present with each inhale in the shower. You destress with each exhale at your desk. Then at the end of the day… when you’re back home curled up in your bed – you’re a better, happier version of yourself.

Being grateful and having a great day everyday… well I think that might be the best ritual of all.

Thank you so much for reading along my first travel post!

Hope you enjoyed – would love to hear what you thought of The Avocado Show restaurant with the avocado waffles below.

Not everything has to be taken with a pic or posted on ig.New generations should remember that often. When I travel I take few pics and vids and just live the moment. Glad you had such a wonderful experience and shared some of ur moments with us. Never been to Amsterdam that is on my bucket list so I can ride bike and boat along the canal. You are beautiful Caila and always keep shinning.
