FRAMING OUR FLIGHT OVER BOSTON

THE MEMORY WE CHOSE

When we first started dating, Nick and I visited Boston, but little did he know I had a surprise up my sleeve! We both went to college in this University town, but never crossed paths back in those days. Revisiting this city is always a meaningful treat, but this visit in particular was extra special because I was taking him on an open-door helicopter ride.

Leading him to believe we were going to a vineyard for a wine tasting, he was shocked when our car took us to a landing strip and pulled next to a giant red helicopter to greet us. Over our favorite city with dangling feet, we weaved over the highways that connect Fenway Park and the Prudential Center before pointing out both of our campuses down below.

Now that we live together, I’m so excited to display a few of my favorite photos of this romantic memory with Mixbook home decor. I wanted them to lean on our living room wall in layers, so I had 4 canvas prints made. Would love to hear what you think! Also, their team was so kind to share a discount code with me – be sure to check it out below!

A little pro tip: if you’re going to print multiple photos – I recommend picking images from the same day or photoshoot. This way all of the coloring is the same and it feels like it tells a unified story.

DECOR TIPS

STYLING YOUR SHELVES

The white marble shelves displaying our prints are elegantly mounted in our living room above the couch. I chose shelves, because I loved the flexibility to change up the elements and pictures easily based on the season or aesthetic we want to create in our home.

FRAMED CANVAS PRINTS

My favorite part about going to Mixbook for personalized home decor is the option to frame your canvas print. I haven’t seen that anywhere else and I think it brings an elegance to your printed decor, almost like it’s art.

The largest 11 x 14 framed canvas print is of Nick’s old football field. We took that picture while we were dangling our feet out of the helicopter with our iPhone, but even blown up on this large canvas it looks like a gorgeous vintage print. Having a landscape or scenic image as your largest piece is a beautiful way to take up space! I like to choose smaller sized canvases like the 8 x 10 or 10 x 8 to display photos of people from the same occasion to show more of the story.

Also! When designing and ordering, I always make sure to choose to wrap my picture all around the canvas. This way, the photo will continue onto all sides and angles of the 3 dimensional print – elevating it as a decor piece. Otherwise, that area will just be left white.

STYLING ELEMENTS

Natural elements like this aged branch add texture to the shelf. Also a great idea is to add fresh flowers or a living plant on your selves to bring in some greenery and life to the mix.

As we approach one year of living together, I think back on all we’ve done together so far. I’m can’t wait to continue to add to more memories and display the next big adventures we have yet to take. ✨

Big thank you to Mixbook for partnering on this post with me & helping me make our home more personal!

Would love to hear all about what memories you all frame in the comments below 😀

No wonder you two are meant to skydive together. Even these pictures of you in the plane from kissing to one of ur first dates in the sky. Maybe Nick will also pop the question in the air. Love how you picked the pictures and how you set up the living area. Awesome job Caila and Mixbook is a great company for sure.
