10 Casual Date Night Ideas in NYC

DRESSING UP WHILE DRESSING DOWN

It’s still the time of year where we just want to stay inside and watch Netflix until the sun comes up. But, on the rare occasion we brave the cold and don’t actually cancel on our plans (come on, we’re all guilty of this!), just throw on any pair of jeans and these white studded mules for the perfect casual date-night outfit. These mules could not be easier to wear — I keep mine by the door so they’re readily available to slip on – on my way out. The leather fabric protects them from getting dirty and since they’re backless, no rubbing.

Another stylish tip when wearing with denim: Pair it with a sheer top for layering like this sheer dress from Zara. Bury your entire outfit under the warmest coat you own, et voilà! February date night ready.

CASUAL DATE NIGHT LOOK

10 Casual Date Night Ideas in NYC

  1. Movie Night at the iPic

    • One of our favorite pastimes, Nick and I come here once a month. If you go, the Mac & Cheese fries are a must.

  2. Kick Axe Throwing

    • This activity is so fun and unique — not to mention therapeutic. I can safely say I never thought I’d love throwing axes at targets but this is one of the most fun date nights we’ve had!

  3. Sofar Sounds

    • Another favorite of mine, Sofar Sounds transforms everyday spaces (someone’s living room, restaurants, etc.) into intimate venues for concerts. The venue and artists (there are usually 3 per show) are kept secret until the last minute. You have be picked via a lottery to be able to go, so make sure to sign up!

  4. Batsu

    • Batsu is a hilarious and interactive Japanese game show where the performers compete against each other in games. Located below a Japanese restaurant, you can order food and drinks from the menu but let me warn you, some of the games might make you lose your appetite.

  5. Stand-up at Comedy Cellar

    • While you never know the line-up before you go, Comedy Cellar is always a guaranteed good time. There are usually around 5 comedians a show, and sometimes celebrity comedians will make a surprise guest appearance to try out new sets. Definitely reserve tickets online beforehand and get to the venue early!

  6. Live music at The Django

    • I love how listening to live jazz transports you into a different time period. The Django at the Roxy Hotel has an amazing ambience and so fun to do with your loved one. There are two performances a night (usually 7:30 and 10:30), so make check the schedule online and book a reservation in advance.

  7. Speakeasy it up

  8. Late night Pedicures

    • Ok… ok I know this might not seem like a date night thing to do, but trust me! Your guy will enjoy the pampering and walk away feeling refreshed and renewed.

  9. Dessert crawl

    • There are so many amazing dessert spots in NYC. Here are three of my top places with my must-try menu items:

🍰 Milk Bar — Must-try: Cereal Milk Soft Serve. Think the deliciousness of the milk after eating a bowl of cornflakes in ice cream form.

🍰 Spot Dessert Bar — Must-try: The Harvest. A beautiful potted “plant” where the soil is made up of 9 layers of deliciousness.

🍰 Taiyaki NYC — Must-try: The fun and totally instagrammable ice cream served in a fish-shaped waffle cone.

  10. Staycation

    • For those nights you’re feeling really spontaneous, you can find a room through Hotel Tonight for as cheap as $50. That’s what Nick and I did to book our amazing Valentine’s Day stay at The Plaza and I got to wear this perfect cute yet casual date night look!

Gorgeous you are. Stylish whole head to toe look and now I want to do causal date night with my hubby with a sheer dress like so and make it sexy and pair it with cute miles too with it like you did. Nick is lucky that you can dress up even casual and make it sexy and cute. Axe throwing for date casual night seems interesting.

I’m more of heels girl but these mules look great and for a causal date seems great. WOW you are stunning Caila love the whole outfit. Good links shared on what one can do on dates too for casual. My husband and I still do from time to time visit an observatory or planetarium gaze at the stars from a field, or you could go to an observatory to do serious stargazing for casual nights. Really want to try the Axel date, speakezy , jazz , and desserts on your list. Love the plaza just like ritz in NYC. Do many staycations as you can girl living in NYC so much nice places to explore too.
